This wine is a blend of native Listán Negro and El Grifo’s own Syrah. It combines the Atlantic character of Lanzarote with a varietal more commonly associated with barrel ageing. The blend undergoes ageing in French oak for up to six months, resulting in a wine that showcases greater complexity and a delightful balance of fruity and oak characteristics.

El Grifo
Winemaker – Jorge Rodriguez
El Grifo was founded in 1775, making it the oldest winery in the Canary Islands and one of the 10 oldest in the whole of Spain. El Grifo has been owned by the same family for 5 generation and over the years it has been the major innovator on Lanzarote. It regularly brought over modern-day equipment from the continent and in the early 1980’s it was the first to bring in stainless-steel vats, which has gone on to revolutionise modern day winemaking. Always pushing the boundaries, with the 2019 vintage they began to use only cultivated yeasts from their own vineyard, bringing an extra authentic touch to their wines.
