The Producer Behind Vega de Yuco Wines
Vega de Yuco is a family-run winery which was established in 1997.
The winemaking is carried out under the watchful eye of owner and winemaker, Rafael Espino Curbelo, who combines traditional techniques with modern oenological practices. He embraces innovation, experimenting with new blends, styles and winemaking techniques to push the boundaries of Vega de Yuco's potential. Some of their wines have won several awards in international competitions in 2024 alone, thereby growing their reputation on the global stage.
Yaiza wine is the most distinctive brand from Bodega Vega de Yuco and of course is also known for its vibrant cobalt blue glass bottle, which sets it apart visually from other wines on the market. The blue bottle and brand was introduced in 2005 and quickly revolutionised the winery. The Yaiza wines are predominantly made from free run must or grape juice, which is characterised by the fresh, delicate and highly aromatic wines that Yaiza has become renowned for.

Yaiza Malvasia Volcanica Seco is a genuine expression of Lanzarote's viticulture. Upon arrival at the winery, the Malvasía Volcánica grapes are hand selected from the best vineyards on the Island. Afterwards, the grapes are fermented in stainless steel tanks using cold maceration techniques, producing a highly expressive wine characterised by its freshness and aromatic personality. Best drunk young!
Yaiza Blanco Semidulce is made from the slightly later harvest of Malvasía Volcánica, which as always on Lanzarote is carried out manually, with a slightly over-ripened grape to achieve a good balance between the natural sweetness of the grape, while at the same time enabling a fresh and well-integrated wine.
Yaiza Afrutado is a fruity wine made from a blend of Moscatel for aromatic intensity, Diego for freshness and Malvasía Volcánica for additional personality and balance.
Yaiza Rosado is produced exclusively from the Listán Negro variety and is made using the traditional “Saignée” method. This dry wine stands out for its vivid layer of colour and great fruit intensity.
Yaiza Listán Negro is made from premium selected grapes collected from century-old vines. A wine matured in oak barrels for 4 months, it is the maximum representation of the unique and surprising character of a variety exclusively cultivated in the Canary Islands.
