Bodega Erupción - Tradition & Innovation
Nestled in the volcanic landscapes of Lanzarote, Bodega Erupción offers a distinctive and immersive wine experience that captures the island’s rich history, terroir and passion for viticulture. Located in the small village of Tao, this family-run winery showcases how tradition and innovation can combine to create remarkable wines that reflect the spirit of Lanzarote.
Bodega Erupción has deep roots in Lanzarote's winemaking heritage. Run by Amor Lopez (Founder, C.E.O. & Oenologist) “Erupción” refers to the last chapter or last volcanic eruption on the island of Lanzarote in the year 1824. The focus of this eruption was in the town where the winery is and many of the vineyards are located.
The winery was run for the last 40 years by Amor's father Marcial, but the original foundation of this project began 3 generations ago. Now this project uses a blend of old-world methods and state of the art technology and practices which produces a range of terroir driven wines all from their own vineyards located throughout parts of the island such as Tao, Tinajo and La Geria. As well as producing these wines, the family farm all 16 parcels of land.
Amor's childhood was enriched in agriculture and viticulture. From a young age she was passed down artisan practices by her ancestors. Her love for biology then took her into education away from the island and onto work in the pharmaceutical sector. Amor’s earlier formal qualifications in oenology, then opened the gateway to return to the island and the foundation of Bodega Erupción as we see it today.
Their farming methods are designed to preserve the island's delicate ecosystem. Amor will oversee all aspects of grape cultivation keeping a vital connection to the land and balancing soil health, organic practices and manual work on the grapevine. Inside the winery there is spontaneous ferments and minimal intervention.

As the founder of Erupción, Amor is deeply focused on the direction of her company and its future development of course. As the first woman to undertake this transition in Lanzarote, she also has a keen interest in helping other women and men pursue their passion in wine making both on and off the island.
Bodega Erupción Wines
Milagro de Magmasía (Miracle of Magma and Malvasia)
Amor's award winning dry white wine is produced from 100% Malvasia Volcanica, hand harvested, centennial vines. The harvest is undertaken in 15kg baskets selecting only the highest quality fruit from the pre-phylloxera vines. Spontaneous fermentation is undertaken before 11 months of lees ageing and a mix of oxidative and reductive winemaking processes. Production is just 5,000 bottles.
Luz de Obsidiana (Obsidian Light)
This award winning red wine is produced from 100% hand harvested Listan Negro grapes, from centennial vines planted mainly in sandy soil laden with volcanic ash in Tao. Tao is a relatively cool and humid town, which catches 100% of the northerly marine trade winds which blow in from the cliffs of Famara. Again, the manual harvest is carried out in 15 kg baskets. A carbonic maceration is then undertaken using proprietary yeasts ahead of 11 months lees again in stainless steels vats. In total 5,333 bottles were produced.
