Bernardo’s Jam: From an Experiment to Sweet Success

Bernardo’s Jam: From an Experiment to Sweet Success
This story begins in 1993 when Don Bernardo opened his restaurant in Lanzarote. Fuelled by an unwavering passion for culinary excellence and a keen sense of innovation, he set out to create something truly special. He turned his attention to the prickly pear, a strikingly colourful fruit that grew abundantly across the island yet remained largely overlooked. He transformed this underrated gem into a delicious jam that not only delighted the taste buds but also artfully captured the rich essence of the Canarian archipelago.
Sweet Delights
Each jar of Bernardo’s jam is made using locally sourced fruits from the Canary Islands. It is available in a variety of flavours, with some particularly notable (and now famous!) options:
Prickly Pear Jam: One of the most iconic fruits from Lanzarote, this jam offers a sweet yet subtly tangy flavour. Its smooth texture makes it perfect for spreading on toast or pairing with cheese. It is also available combined with other flavours, such as banana or aloe (click here to discover the full selection).
Papaya & Orange Jam: This jam delivers a delightful punch, infused with the zesty freshness of local citrus fruits combined with a tropical taste.
Mulberry Jam: If you like berries of any kind, you will love this jam. It's Ollie's favourite with "queso frito" (fried fresh goats cheese).

How to Enjoy Bernardo's Jam
