A flagship wine of Lanzarote. The El Grifo Seco Colección is a dry white wine made with Malvasía Volcánica from ungrafted, pre-phylloxera vines located in the centre of the Island. The manual harvest is towards the end of July in 20kg baskets, thereby protecting the collected fruit of which is hand selected. The bunches are cooled to very low temperatures for 24 hours before processing. Through the vinification process temperature is carefully controlled to retain freshness and aromas. This wine highlights the characteristics of this variety and its unique cultivation method.

El Grifo
Winemaker – Jorge Rodriguez
El Grifo was founded in 1775, making it the oldest winery in the Canary Islands and one of the 10 oldest in the whole of Spain. El Grifo has been owned by the same family for 5 generation and over the years it has been the major innovator on Lanzarote. It regularly brought over modern-day equipment from the continent and in the early 1980’s it was the first to bring in stainless-steel vats, which has gone on to revolutionise modern day winemaking. Always pushing the boundaries, with the 2019 vintage they began to use only cultivated yeasts from their own vineyard, bringing an extra authentic touch to their wines.
Colour
A very clear and bright pale yellow, greenish hue.
Aroma
The varietal character of the Malvasía Volcánica dominates, with fresh citrus and stone fruit aromas and underlying floral tones.
Mouth
Well balanced, fresh and clean just as a young Malvasía Volcánica should be. Flavours of crisp citrus dominate, with hints of volcanic minerality and salinity, leading to a lovely persistent finish.
Food Pairing
A perfect companion with some light cheeses or fresh crab.
