Introducing Bodega Olivina
A New Star in Wine from Lanzarote

We are excited to introduce the latest addition to our portfolio: Bodega Olivina. This a new brand-winery on the Island, with 2024 being the first vintage. When Ollie went to visit, he found wines which complemented the current wine selection perfectly. A blush and vibrant Lanzarote rosé wine, and a young and expressive red - they were too good to say no!
Bodega Olivina is the newest creation of Jorge Rodríguez, a renowned winemaker formerly working at Bodegas El Grifo, and the current president of the Denomination of Origin Lanzarote. The vineyard of Bodega Olivina is meticulously arranged in rows on the rich and challenging volcanic soil of Lanzarote, located in the northern part of the island, beneath the majestic Corona volcano (Volcan de la Corona). This vibrant volcanic terrain, shaped by past eruptions 21,000 years ago, serves as a living testament to the deep connection between humans, the land, and wine in Lanzarote. The soil, predominantly composed of volcanic stone, provides unique conditions for viticulture, resulting in wines with exceptional character.

The landscape surrounding the vineyard is also essential to the cultivation at Bodega Olivina. The proximity of the volcanoes and the rugged, rocky terrain of northern Lanzarote create an environment of striking beauty and personality, which is reflected in the bodega's philosophy: to honour nature and work in harmony with it.
Here, traditional manual labour merges with modern, sustainable techniques, striving to protect the plants from environmental challenges while maintaining a focus on family traditions. This commitment seeks to achieve a balance with nature without neglecting the rich heritage of winemaking.
Bodega Olivina wines: A Unique Expression of Lanzarote Wine
In a region primarily known for white wine production, it was the red and rosé wines that surprised us the most. The name of both wines, Respiro, which means "breath" in Spanish, carries a profound significance. It represents the moment of relief and renewal that comes after facing challenges. The label pays tribute to the rural woman, a key figure in the island's agricultural heritage.

Respiro Tinto - A Captivating Lanzarote Red Wine
Respiro Tinto is a red wine made with Listán Negro, a pre-phylloxera variety native to the Canary Islands that stands out for its ability to express fresh and elegant nuances. With its medium intensity and vibrant fruity profile, this red wine is a delightful choice for anyone looking for a harmonious combination of elegance and authenticity.
Rosado - A Stunning Lanzarote Rosé Wine
Respiro rosado is also made with Listán Negro. This rosé is made using whole grapes to preserve the delicate varietal aromas. Its pale pink colour and candy-like aromas make it a perfect choice for those looking for a Lanzarote rosé wine that is surprising, refreshing and full of personality.
