Art & Accessories - A Collaboration with Dean Hooker Art

We are delighted to announce a collaboration with Dean Hooker Art, which we will look to grow in the months ahead.

Dean has been great friends with the team, ever since they all met surfing on the Island.  Dean was the creative behind some of our first logo ideas and in the years since, we have talked lots about teaming up!

Well, we finally did, with a range of Lanzarote inspired tea towels ready to brighten up any kitchen on a dull day!  They are based on three of Dean’s wonderful paintings and we hope it can lead to new things!

Living as an artist in Lanzarote for 10 years, Dean has “been inspired by the Island's culture and artistic heritage, landscapes, and the people themselves. The Island has a rich tapestry of innovative people producing art, music, and various artisan products using unique methods.  Just think of the wine, salt, aloe vera oils, cactus jams to name a few.”

This takes us to the paintings or the tea towels in this case! 

Dean says “of the two cacti, a plant I love with its dark and light shades of greens, blues and mauves...it really gave me a depth and warmth while painting them.  Indeed, the cactus you see in the paintings does exist and sits in a friend’s garden, happily basking in the baking Canarian sunshine!”

On the abstract design, “it consists of geometric shapes in an abstract form and is inspired by Cesar Manrique, an artist who left his influence on this Island in many different shapes and forms.” 

Dean says he was “thrilled to finally see the collaboration with Wine Shop Lanzarote get underway, as like me they are inspired by the Island and are champions of promoting the Islands’ quality products and its personality too.”
