Bodega Tierra Fundida
Maximum Production β 10.000 bottles
After more than 20 years working in vineyardsΒ andΒ wineriesΒ across the Canary Islands and beyond, Gabi and Loreto decided it was time to start something of their own.Β
In 2017, they produced their first 1,400 bottles ofΒ wineΒ under the name VinosΒ enΒ Tandem, made using traditional techniques that highlight and protect the native grape varieties of northern Tenerife.Β
Since then, production has grown to around 10,000 bottles a year. But the focusΒ remainsΒ the same: small-scale, hands-onΒ winemakingΒ with minimal intervention.Β
They work and live at Finca Morales in LosΒ BaldΓosΒ (La Laguna), where theΒ winery is also their home.Β It'sΒ a shared spaceΒ with their family, garden, and free-range animals,Β a lifestyle that reflects their practical and natural approach toΒ wine.Β
Gabi brings decades ofΒ winemaking and consulting experience from various islands, while Loreto contributes her background inΒ enology, influenced by her roots in La Rioja,Β alongΒ with her experiences in Napa Valley and New Zealand.Β
RukuΒ RukuΒ
Production β 800 bottles
BehindΒ RukuΒ Ruku, there is a couple from the island of Tenerife, JessicaΒ MartΓnΒ and TomΓ‘s Mesa, who areΒ brought together by a shared passion for wine, food, and the preservation of local traditions. Jessica is a viticulturist and the driving force behind the restaurantΒ GuachincheΒ RamΓ³n, while TomΓ‘s is a winemaker and consultant who collaborates with wine projects throughout the Canary Islands.Β
They met in 2021 and soon began working together to vinify an old vineyard in northern Tenerife. That same year, they produced just 800 bottles ofΒ RukuΒ Ruku,Β a limited-edition wine made with care, capturing the essence of traditional grape varieties and the regionβs unique CordΓ³nΒ TrenzadoΒ vine-training method.Β
Their project is rooted in the connection between Tenerifeβs gastronomy and viticulture. In addition to tending their vineyards, theyΒ maintainΒ a small plot of land where they grow produce served atΒ GuachincheΒ RamΓ³n, their family-run restaurant. With a focus on sustainability,Β zero-kilometerΒ sourcing, and collaboration with local farmers, schools, associations, and visitors, they promote a farm-to-table philosophy while preserving the island's agricultural heritage.Β

BodegasΒ ArautavaΒ
Production β
The story of BodegasΒ ArautavaΒ began with Grandfather Don Casiano, who made his own wine in the early 1900s on the steep hills ofΒ Aguamansa, overlooking Mount Teide and the Atlantic Ocean.Β Β
In 1975, Don AmΓ©rico GarcΓa NΓΊΓ±ez continued this family legacy byΒ purchasingΒ an old vineyard in the highest part ofΒ the LaΒ OrotavaΒ Valley, which ledΒ to the establishment of Finca La Habanera.Β Β
Now in its third generation, the familyΒ led by QuiqueΒ GarcΓaΒ has spent decades reviving the traditionalΒ cordΓ³nΒ trenzadoΒ vine training method, which is rooted in Portuguese heritage. These vineyards, grown in volcanic soil and cooled by Atlantic trade winds, are at the heart of BodegasΒ Arautava.Β Β
Today, the family cultivates these heroic vines with care, particularly theΒ AlbilloΒ Criollo, which thrives at 700 meters above sea level. The wines produced here areΒ rich in character, history, and fragrance, with a winemaking process that follows a minimal intervention approach. This approach allows the true essence ofΒ ListΓ‘nΒ Negro,Β ListΓ‘nΒ Blanco,Β AlbilloΒ Criollo, and the historicΒ MalvasΓaΒ AromΓ‘ticaΒ to shine through.Β
Bodega Hermanos MesaΒ
Production β
Founded over 70 years ago in the municipality ofΒ Arafo, Bodega Hermanos Mesa began with JosΓ© Mesa, who cultivated vines in the area known asΒ Locartas. What started as a humble, post-war exchange of wine for essential goods evolved into a lasting family legacy.Β
His son, TomΓ‘s Mesa, modernized the winery and began bottling under the VIΓAS MESA label, making it the first in the region to earn the Valle deΒ GΓΌΓmarΒ Denomination of Origin.Β
Today, the third generation leads the winery: Fernando Mesa,Β an agricultural engineer; Carmen MarΓa Mesa, a chemistry graduate; and TomΓ‘s Mesa, anΒ oenologist. They reestablished the brand as Bodega Hermanos Mesa and now focus on crafting single-vineyard wines that reflect the unique terroir of the Valle deΒ GΓΌΓmar.Β
The winery is also committed to reviving nearly forgotten native grape varieties likeΒ Marmajuelo,Β AlbilloΒ Criollo, andΒ VerijadiegoΒ Blanca. Each bottle celebratesΒ itsΒ heritage while embracing innovation and the richness of the land.Β
